Hydraulic Testing of Two Vertical Floating-Roof Tanks Successfully Completed at Tikhoretskaya OTSD

Date of publication: 10 August 2015

Chernomortransneft, JSC has completed hydraulic testing of two vertical floating-roof tanks (VFRT) at the Tikhoretskaya oil transshipment depot of the Tikhoretsk Regional Oil Trunk Pipeline Department-(ROTPD). Construction of tanks with the capacity of 50,000 m3 each has been underway in the scope of the program on replacing reinforced concrete tanks (RCT) with vertical steel tanks.

Corrosion protection has now been applied to the internal and external tank surfaces using domestically produced paint, in line with the import substitution program. By their quality, the materials used match the foreign peers, and even excel those in a number of parameters; the unit cost of constructing 1 m3 of the tank is thereby decreased, which yields extra economic benefits.

After the corrosion protection is applied, the work will be done within the VFRT dyking, along with improvement of the adjacent area. The facilities are expected to be put into operation in Q4 2015.
