Chernomortransneft has put a tank farm electrochemical protection (ECP) system into operation at Podkumok PS (pumping station) of Tikhoretsk Regional Oil Trunk Pipeline Directorate (ROTPD) ahead of the schedule.
The revamping of the tank farm’s electrochemical protection system was done under the technical upgrading programme of Chernomortransneft, which covers the replacement of outdated equipment for more energy efficient pieces with extended service life.
Enhanced reliability cathode and ground protection equipment that ensures safe operation of tanks was installed. The equipment enables more precise measurements and timely analysis of the corrosion rate. This data will allow to take prompt and effective measures to adjust the functioning of the electrochemical protection equipment.
The construction and installation included replacing the supports of the instrumentation points intended to measure the protective potential and evaluate the degree of tank protection from corrosion. Blocks of corrosion rate indicator plates for evaluating the effectiveness of the ECP system were also installed.
Upgrading and well-timed inspection of electrochemical protection equipment is crucial to ensure high standards of the industrial and operational safety at Chernomortransneft’s facilities.
