Chernomortransneft has completed scheduled repairs of the Tikhoretsk – Tuapse and Krymsk – Krasnodar oil trunk pipelines (OTPs), which consisted of cutting out defects.
The repairs were performed during a planned shutdown of pumping near Khadyzhensk and the Kholmskaya village in Krasnodar Territory. Within 72 hours, three defective sections of pipe with a total length of more than 70 metres were replaced. Two pipeline sections with unacceptable defects in the pipes’ walls were cut out of the Tikhoretsk – Tuapse OTP. At the Krymsk – Krasnodar OTP a section of pipe with thinning walls was removed.
After welding and installation, the new OTP sections were tested for strength and leakage. The final stage consisted of injecting oil into the pipelines, dismantling temporary air escape valves, restoring insulation and backfilling of the sections.
The defects were cut out by the Central Maintenance Division of Krasnodar Regional Oil Pipeline Directorate and SMU-3 (a contractor). The oil pipeline was put back into operation according to the schedule.
All repairs were performed within the Integrated Technical Upgrading, Revamping, and Overhaul Programme of Chernomortransneft in order to ensure uninterrupted and safe operation of oil trunk pipelines.
