Chernomortransneft has released juvenile grass carps into the Kuban River, belonging to the Azov Sea’s basin, to ensure artificial reproduction of aquatic biological resources.
The ecosystem of the Kuban River was replenished with 126 juvenile grass carps with the average weight of 20.25 grams. The juveniles had been preliminarily grown until they reached the size allowing for them to be released into open water. The fish were delivered to the point of release by special transport. The juveniles had been grown by the Adygeya Sturgeon Fish Farm specialising in breeding valuable fish species.
The release of the juveniles was monitored by a special commission comprised of Chernomortransneft`s specialists and representatives of environmental protection directorates for supervision and control of aquatic biological resources.
This year, fish have been released into Krasnodar Territory’s water bodies twice in order to compensate for the damage caused by the revamping of the Tikhoretsk – Novorossiysk-1 and the Khadyzhensk – Krasnodar oil trunk pipelines (OTP). By the end of the year, more measures will be taken to recover the possible damage to the biological resources which may be caused by construction works at the Malgobek – Tikhoretsk OTP and at the Lisichansk – Tikhoretsk-2 OTP’s underwater crossing of the Yeya River. A total of over 1,500 juvenile grass carp fish are planned to be released.
The measures for artificial reproduction of aquatic biological resources are taken as part of the compulsory compensatory environmental measures taken by the Company.
