Chernomortransneft Completes Scheduled Repairs at Four Oil Trunk Pipelines

Chernomortransneft has completed scheduled repairs at four oil trunk pipelines (OTPs): the Kuibyshev – Tikhoretsk OTP, the Tikhoretsk – Novorossiysk-3 OTP, the Tikhoretsk – Tuapse OTP and the Tikhoretsk – Tuapse-2 OTP.

During a scheduled shutdown of the oil trunk pipelines, major repairs were realised at Tikhoretskaya oil transshipment depot (OTSD). Operability of automatic protection was checked, and constancy of equipment’s performance when disconnecting one source of electricity was tested at Tikhoretskaya oil pumping stations -2,4,5 (PS) and booster pumping stations -2,4,5 (BPS) (the Tikhoretsk – Tuapse-2, Tikhoretsk – Tuapse and Tikhoretsk – Novorossiysk-3 OTPs).

Additionally, a subsystem of the centralised emergency control automation system (CECAS) was tested at the Tikhoretsk – Novorossiysk OTP. The emergency response system provides comprehensive protection of the oil trunk pipeline against emergency situations associated with increased pressure, loss of airtightness or seismic effects.

Stop valves were checked for leakage and full opening/ closing in automatic mode at oil trunk pipelines. In total, 91 gate valves were examined, 13 of them located at underwater crossings. Moreover, repair and operational divisions’ specialists of Tikhoretsk Regional Oil Trunk Pipeline Directorate carried out midlife repairs of line gate valves No. 14 and No. 38-2P at the Kuibyshev – Tikhoretsk and Tikhoretsk – Novorossiysk-3 OTPs.

Routine repairs of microprocessor automation systems of Tikhoretskaya PS-4 (the Tikhoretsk – Tuapse OTP) and Tikhoretskaya PS-5 (the Tikhoretsk – Novorossiysk-3 OTP) were performed. Technical inspection of a sampling device of an oil lease automatic custody transfer unit (LACT) was performed at the Kuibyshev – Tikhoretsk OTP.

All works were carried out as part of the comprehensive technical upgrading, revamping and overhaul programme implemented by Chernomortransneft in order to ensure uninterrupted and safe operation of oil trunk pipelines.
