A state environmental appraisal conducted by the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources in North Caucasian Federal District has resulted in a positive opinion regarding the reconstruction of the Grozny — Baku oil trunk pipeline performed by Chernomortransneft in the Republic of Dagestan.
The reconstruction of the Grozny — Baku OTP provides for the replacement of a section of the pipeline running in the territory of the conservation area of the Andrey-Aulsky national reserve. To increase the reliability of the main oil pipeline in the reserve, it is planned to dismantle the old section of the pipeline (1684.5 m) and lay the new one (1787.5 m), as well as replace the air escape valve unit.
An environmental appraisal was conducted to minimise the risk to the environment. In the course of studying the design documentation and the results of the engineering surveys of the reconstruction project, the expert commission of the state environmental appraisal of the Department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources in North Caucasian Federal District came to the conclusion that the technical part of the design and engineering documentation complied with the environmental requirements defined by technical regulations and the RF environmental legislation. Based on the results of the appraisal, a positive opinion was issued.
Chernomortransneft will launch the project on reconstruction of the Grozny — Baku oil pipeline in November 2019.
