Chernomortransneft has completed construction of the Novovelichkovskaya – Krasnodar oil trunk pipeline for sour crude supply to Afipsky and Ilsky Refineries.

The purpose of the project is securing deliveries of sour crude to the refineries of Krasnodar Territory in the amount of 4.5 million tonnes a year with the possibility of extension up to 9 MTPA.

The Novovelichkovskaya – Krasnodar oil trunk pipeline offshoot with a total length of 55 km, leading to Afipsky and Ilsky Refineries, was laid. Three stop valve units and two PIG traps were mounted to service the new section. The OPS-3 mainline pump station and a number of related infrastructure facilities were built at the Novovelichkovskaya oil pumping station.

The new pipeline was connected during a scheduled shutdown of the Tikhoretsk – Novorossiysk-3 oil trunk pipeline. At the same time, works were carried out to connect the Novovelichkovskaya OPS-3 to the oil trunk pipeline.

Before the connection, the new facilities passed hydraulic testing, as well as strength and leakage tests. Their welded joints were examined for defects. A total of 135 people and 40 pieces of equipment were involved.

Now, the Tikhoretsk – Novorossiysk-3 oil trunk pipeline is operating under the normal protocol, oil transportation is carried out as per schedule.
